Internal Control Area is headed by Olga Espejo Calderon.

Among her functions is, monitor the effectiveness of the methods and means adopted to protect resources, promote accuracy and reliability of financial reporting and administrative support and measure the performance of programs and check the reasonableness of all operations activities aimed at fulfilling the mission of the Institute, framed on the principles of morality, economy, speed, efficiency, equity, effectiveness and assessment of environmental costs.
